Allen Conversion Infantry .50-70 (AL3481)
Allen Conversion Infantry .50-70 caliber rifle. This is the fore-runner to the Trapdoor series of weapons. The U.S. Military used it in the last quarter of the 19th Century. This was converted from the standard Springfield Musket to a Breech Loader. This was going on all over the world at this time as Army leaders moved to update obsolete rifles. This one was done in 1869 using an 1863 Musket. It has a 34 1/2" barrel. Stock and metal are better than average for this type.
